Displaying all reviews (3)This is a truly stunning arrangement. My 13-year-old son is nearly done learning it, so I’ve had the privilege of listening to it A LOT. I never get sick of it! It sounds impressive and looks impressive when performed but also feels very intuitive. While I haven’t personally tried to make this performance ready, I’ve dabbled with the whole thing enough while helping my son learn it to comfortably say that the chord progressions, transitions, and key changes are flawless. I especially love the back and forth between the grandiose heavy chords and the softer, gentler sections. This arrangement is deliciously dynamic with so much texture and contrast, and perfectly captures the multi-faceted nature of the sea. It rolls right off the fingers, and there isn’t a single boring or extraneous variation to be found here. I love it all!

I can’t listen to this enough, it’ll end and I immediately restart it again and again dozens of times. I’m determined to master this one. With a couple tiny tweaks as I personalize it for myself… hah
Love the whimsy of the crossovers, which suit a sea shanty perfectly. Plus crossovers are just fun.
Love the simple start and then… boom. Right smack into two busy hands. I love that kind of 0-to-60 in one flash second style.
I love everything about it except about three specific notes… haha
Question, do you still read the sheet music as you’re playing, or being your own unique arrangement do you just know it so well you play it from memory?
Thanks for creating an arrangement I’m just so excited to learn I’m literally antsy!

Ok the overall melody and idea is really good. I have a big problem with your crossing of hands. I understand the first cross cause it makes sense because the left hand switches between treble and bass while the right hand keeps the melody. My issue is the other 2 crosses of the hands it doesnt make sense. yes it looks cooler to others but there is no reason for it. It is way easier to have the melody switch to the left hand. I actually brought the pdf of the music into adobe illustrator so i could edit the pdf to switch the staffs. Other than this clear oversight and not really thinking of how to play this, this score is really good. I know I saw your youtube video and I know it can be done to just cross your hands for all the sections it just doesnt make sense though. if I wanted to play maple leaf rag with the staffs switched I could do it, there just is no reason other than making the song look way harder and challenging your brain to reverse process the music.
