Reviews
Displaying all reviews (2)Seems relatively accurate to the original *as performed* by Heart back in the mid 80s. Just a few "notes" (pun intended, lol):
1. Its listed as C major being the "original published key". While that may be the case vs the composers, Heart originally *performed* this in *B* major (confirmed this by playing while listening to their original recording). Wondering if Heart adjusted it themselves based on the singers range (Nancy Wilson) - or just by choice.
2. That being said, B major isnt available as a choice under the "Transpose" menu on the page, so I had to "transpose on the fly" (read as: set my MIDI keyboard controller to transpose 1 semitone/half step down, so that I was reading/playing in C major and it was outputting MIDI data in B major).
3. Its missing the entire 2nd verse as performed by Heart. Not sure if Heart added that themselves. Its not a "deal breaker", but consequently the music is also missing the transition between the 1st and 2nd verse. Also not a serious issue, as I was able to figure something out that was suitable.
4. More of a "site" observation than the music, but IMHO, if the listing is going to state "Heart" under "Artist or Show", then the arrangement should be based on that. In this case, it shouldve been listed as just the composers names (or whatever other artist may have performed it prior, if any). To list this arrangement as being performed by "Heart" is somewhat misleading (unless they also performed an "abridged" version, which I dont recall, but doesnt eliminate the possibility). Alternatively, given that someone spent the time and effort to provide another *SIX* variants, B major shouldve been one of them. It would seem reasonable to expect that, for any given arrangement, the "original published key" should be first (and default, as it appears to be), and then if the listed artist originally performed it in a different key, that should always be available as a choice. Otherwise, dont reference the artist.
