The Prayer - piano solo
2/5/2017 12:05:01 AMRather disappointed in this arrangement of this beautiful song. Id always adapted the duet to play as prelude at weddings, and thought it would be nice to have it arranged as a solo, rather than adlib the vocal version. The arranger uses some 16th note turns in some places -it comes off as too frilly and difficult to pick out the melody. I play the melody notes only as 8th notes. In several places the arranger uses different harmonies. This song is so well known, I m afraid listeners will think I am making mistakes. I purchased in the key o F/E Flat. There are too many places where the melody jumps between octaves. Im assuming I might have ordered other than the original key,and it transposed that way It will be hard for the listener to pick out the melody in some places. Finally, this again may be due to the fact I purchased in the key I did, but often times there are 3 octave gaps between the right and left hand. It just comes across as shrill to play so much of the song so high. Bottom line: draw upon other versions of this song, and work out something that easier to listen to.
