Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

This particular edition is very close to Liszts original 1851 publication (as viewed at imslp); its only simplified in two short passages (measures 23 & 58). Many of us older pianists grew up with the Scribner edition, also simplified (to an even greater extent). Like the Scribner edition, this Musicnotes edition writes out a cadenza where the original and many reprints simply say, "cadenza ad libium." I really like this particular cadenza added herein; its probably from a popular recording, as its familiar to me. My main complaint with this Musicnotes edition is that far too many pedal, dynamic, articulation and expression markings are missing, particularly as you get into the last third of the piece. Also, this Musicnotes edition often simplifies the beaming of 8th notes from the original and standard style (often beaming all four together in 2/4 measures), which I think gives a wrong impression about the smoothness (or lack of!) that Liszt intended. Overall, I would definitely recommend this Musicnotes edition for its beautiful clarity and cadenza... with the caveat that a performing pianist would do well to review and incorporate articulations, dynamic, expression and pedal markings from the original. The Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt is an excellent piece to play on the piano. The movements are set up in a wonderful format.

I know this is for reviews, but does anyone know which cadenza this is? I havent played this yet cause Im busy with other pieces, I just got this for a summer project. So I havent really touched this piece yet, but from what I can tell its very hard. I mean... it is a Liszt piece after all XD.
