Displaying all reviews (7)I saw this show back in February and immediately fell in love with the character of Casey. Shes edgy and sarcastic but this song proves that she is incredibly vulnerable. The lyrics get straight to the point and the melody pairs well to create a powerful ballad about revealing your true feelings and letting someone in.

I like it how the piano part rolls the chords at the beginning just like the guitar play them in the recording. It is a really accurate arrangement, and I will be singing it later this year. It is a beautiful song. I hope to see the musical one day on Broadway.

I used Safer for my first huge audition and got callbacks for my FIRST lead role. This is a great song for belters. I used this for my Heathers audition for Veronica Sawyer.

I got the sheet music to use for an upcoming audition and so far its been working pretty well. Im super excited and I feel prepared having really nice sheet music.

First Date is a popular show for casual MT nerds (and theres nothing wrong with that) but I caution you that if you plan to use this for an audition or cabaret, please make sure you have someone play through it for you. The arrangement is good but if youre trying to mimic the recording youre gonna have a bad time. Also just generally disregard the tempo markings.
