How Could You Lose Me?

Excellent song! Its the End Title on the soundtrack for the movie The Firm, and incorporates parts of other songs on the soundtrack - it starts off with elements from the delicate "Mitch and Abby", picks up speed when transitioning to a "Memphis Stomp"- style interlude, then goes full on, foot-tapping, finger-snapping, bluesy-jazz with the rest of the song heavily influenced by Grusins "Rays Blues". The Firm is a fine movie on its own, but its a must-see if for no other reason than Dave Grusins superb original piano compositions. And this song is just one of many of Grusins piano masterpieces.

A good transcription.

I purchased the book for The Firm of which the piano books was the work of Dave Grusin. Sadly, the piece that this review was, for some reason not included within the book (along with Rays blues which I also had to purchase online). Thankfully, this score now completes all of the piano pieces it is a pleasure to learn and a pleasure to play.

Great piece but not the one he played in the film!

This song, played at the very end of the film, is absolutely stunning, with an incredibly intricate (and difficult) stride left-hand bass line holding it together. Sadly, that is not reproduced in either the official score of the film or this version (which looks very similar if not identical), which shows a much simplified bass line which is far easier to play but not nearly as compelling to listen to. Other than that, its great!
